Connect an exchange account
Add your trade-only key in TradeSurge, link it to the account it trades, and let TradeSurge check it with the exchange.
Updated October 12, 2026
TradeSurge has two environments, like a payments test mode. Demo uses your exchange's demo account: no real money moves. Production uses your live accounts. Keys and copy groups belong to the environment you add them in, so a demo key only works in Demo and a live key only in Production.
Connect a key
- 01
Pick the environment
Use the Environment switch (sidebar on desktop, account menu on a phone). Switching to Production asks you to confirm.
- 02
Add the account it trades (recommended)
In Accounts, choose Add account and fill in the firm, size, stage and rules. Breach Guard needs these limits; see Set your firm's rules.
- 03
Open Connect a broker
In Copy trading, choose Connect a broker. Pick the exchange; the drawer shows where to make the key and what to tick.
- 04
Paste the key
Give it a name, then paste the API key and API secret (and the Passphrase on exchanges that use one).
- 05
Link it to the tracked account
Under Tracked account, choose the account from step 2, so its limits drive Breach Guard and copy guards. You can link it later from the key's details.
- 06
Confirm and check
Switch on This key can trade but can't withdraw, enter your TradeSurge password, and choose Check and connect.
What the check does
TradeSurge asks the exchange what the key can do, from your trading IP. If the key can withdraw or transfer funds, it's refused and nothing is stored. If the exchange is slow to answer, the key is saved as pending: check it again in a minute.
Once connected, the account page shows live equity, available balance, open positions, the Breach Guard status and its log. In Production, a verified key linked to a tracked account records the day's balance by itself.
How the key is kept
- Encrypted before it's stored, with a key only our servers hold.
- Never shown again, not even to you: you see only the first and last 4 characters.
- Revoke it any time and the encrypted copy is deleted, not just switched off.
- Every key added or removed is listed in Settings → Security log.
